If we really aint doing y'all a favour, why do y'all pressure us into marriage?? Like, you see an eight year old boy and you ask him his dreams in life, he'll tell you, being a doctor, being a lawyer, being the richest man on earth! You see an eight year old girl, you ask her what her dream is, she tells you she has dreams of how her wedding will be, how she wants to marry a doctor, an engineer or a lawyer. Hell!! The dreams of these girls is marriage. You see a girl, and she be like, she saving herself for marriage! I aint never heard a nigga say he's saving himself for marriage! That shit scares us! Until we about 28 29 30, and it still scares some at that age sef! But you see a 19 year old girl picking colours for her wedding when she's still single o, planing how to lock the next nigga down! How are we not doing y'all a favour?? If we are not doing y'all a favour by marrying y'all why do you get upset when we date y'all for like 5 years and aint ready to get married yet??? Why? Talking about y'all doing the guys a favour! Yes! I know you change your name, yes, we know you go thru childbirth, yes!we know that shit painful and yes! We appreciate! But we didn't force y'all into nothing! I know how you be flaunting that diamond ring on your engagement night! How you brag about your traditional marriage and make your wedding a show off! Calling all your friends for the bridal shower! That shit costs money!!! Do you know what we go thru before we marry y'all? We gats go meet your dad, your mom! Ur uncle! Your kindered! Your umunna, your umunne, your umuada, buy this, buy that, pay this, pay that! Boo boo! You better start changing your damn name to mine after going thru all that shit! We achieve that shit! At times we even borrow to please your damn family in the marriage process!!! That shit aint funny! That's why you don't see no grooms smiling on his wedding day, just the bride shinning her teeth! We stay thinking of what shit we got ourselves into! If you a single mom, nobody asks you to change your damn name! But if I pay your bride price! Sweetie you will answer my name o! Fuck what you heard! You will answer my native name, English name, Surname even Nick name! And if I have a title like Junior or something best get ready to answer Junior too! And come to think of it, do you know what niggas do to get money to make your life comfortable? Have you gone for a job hunt before and stand in a fucking line rubbing your dick against the butt of a damn stranger? Or the children school fees that even grow up to love you more than they love us men? The nightmares!!! Y'all go thru pains in labour, word!!! but aint gat no worries!! Its us that die of High BP and Stroke worrying about how to provide for our homes! How many of y'all suffer from such trauma? How many? We always on the road, hustling and dying in accidents. Y'all always get old! And wrinkled! We always leave a nice corpse! I see obituary posters, men, 50 years at most 60! Women! 90 some 110! And you say you suffer? Without marriage sweetie we will be like 150 years!! Let me not hear another complain from y'all abeg! Let everybody shut up and carry his or her cross without complains biko! Favour or no favour!
