MODERN TRUE LOVE

MODERN TRUE LOVE

The bar was filled to the brim, crawling happy sweaty with people. It was a Friday night It was like “crimson” was the only dance bar open in town, excited folks in their ‘thank God it’s Friday’ mood dancing recklessly under the multiple-colour club lights lighting up the huge building. On sight at the club were lonely depressed people sitting with a whole lot of empty beer bottles, all by themselves while the happy ones mix with friends; making new ones.
Williams walked into a night bar for the first time totally puzzled, “people really come out this much at night?” Looking at his best friend Eddie as he smiled holding tight his beautiful girlfriend “Folake”, people always believed Eddie was lucky having Folake as a girlfriend because from their views, Eddie had nothing to offer the light-skinned pretty tall well shaped stunning girl who turn heads even in a funeral. But Folake on the other hand didn’t share the same feeling, she always felt lucky having Eddie; the love of her life - in her life. Williams isn’t really an outgoing type unlike his childhood friend and best friend Eddie who since he started dating Folake 3 years ago turned to a wild cat. It was william’s first night out. Everything looked strange to him, the smell of cigarette in the air contracting the vivid lit up bar’s slogan shinning right above the service bar “love is in the air” kept Williams uncomfortable for the first 30 minutes in the bar until he started getting drunk. Eddie and Folake were already dancing and sweating mindless of the crowd in the building.
From across the bar sitting by themselves were three ladies gisting and laughing out loud, from their looks it was obvious they all came from the office down to the bar, working class ladies; a rare sight in bars these day. Girls usually easily spotted in bars are either students, fashionable hookers or somewhat irresponsible ladies. Iniobong, Rashidat and Onyinye were work colleagues; they all worked as marketers for a bank, one of the biggest banks in the country. They were the ladies with power in baking sector; they attract the highest and richest customers to their bank by all means necessary like the three musketeers they were powerful and unstoppable together beating any target posing as a challenge. They are simply good and well paid too, since other banks wanted them, their boss made sure they had no reason to consider switching ensuring they were all comfortable enough to keep up the good work. Rashidat the backslidden Muslim who was actually posted as a copper to the state and after serving in the bank was retained as a permanent staff, was since admiring Eddie not minding he was dancing with his girlfriend.” I like that boy” she told her friends who found it surprising “why? He is not that handsome and he already has a girlfriend he doesn’t deserve”. See how he is kissing her publicly” laughing hysterically Rashidat still insisted she likes Eddie for reasons best known to her. Williams still inconspicuous was already drunk watching his friends dance. Folake noticed Williams was drunk and decided to make use of the opportunity to give him a good time. She quickly came close to Williams and pulled him up to dance. Williams had always been a good dancer but never tried dancing publicly. Shy Williams was tipsy enough to see less of the crowd at the bar so He made a few dance moves and paused, the alcohol in his system was too much for him. Iniobong was coming back in to the club after answering a call from her husband who has been away for two weeks now. Her husband wanted to know where she was, she has for the past few days has been staying over at her friends place, and she isn’t ready to go home yet. She noticed Williams dancing when she was coming back in after the call from her husband and at his sight, she Paused absolutely absorbed in the moment, admiring the young wasted lad who danced like he was in his bedroom alone.
IniObong has been married for three years now although she has a 12 year old daughter (in boarding school) for her husband yeas back out of wedlock. She always attacked Onyinye for having a boyfriend apart outside her marriage. Seen as the perfect one among her friends she was involuntarily sexually attracted to Williams. It’s been long she made love to her always busy business tycoon husband, all she could think of is taking the young fine boy across the bar home. IniObong didn’t want her friends to know about the one night stand, so she called one of the waiters at the bar and asked him to get William’s number for her. It was easy since Williams was already drunk; she gave her friends an excuse claiming she needed to send some e-mails to her husband that she would be right back. Outside the club, iniobong called Williams and asked him to come outside. sluggishly, Williams dragged himself out, to the lady who grabbed him just by the entrance pulled him to the side and started kissing him, since he haven’t had a kiss for months now, she could resist not even a bit. He quickly flowed to the rhythm of the sensational night romance. Pulling Williams by the hand running into the parking lot just across the bar in her heels, Iniobong was giggling “I can’t believe in doing this” Williams still dazed asked “what’s your name by the way?” ”Iniobong and don’t ask much questions please” “O.K how old are you please?” Williams asked knowing fully well Onyinye was older. “32 years” she replied “wow! Can’t get any cooler than this, can it?” Williams added, happier “shut up” iniobong broke in still giggling ”Must have been one of your dreams come true, making out with an older woman.” “You have no idea” Williams replied smling in the dark parking lot. Inside iniobong’s car, it was a speechless flick for like 20 minutes. Romancing wildly and kissing even with the air conditioner on, the both were sweating acutely in the humming car and the sex was quite uncomfortable leaving Iniobong yearning for more, she started the car, “what are you doing?” Williams asked, still ignoring his phone which has been vibrating for the past ten minutes. It was Eddie; probably worried. “I’m taking you to my house”, “uh, uh” Williams broke in shaking his head continuously, iniobong still surprised Williams could turn down her offer after having her on such a brilliant platter, “Ladies don’t drive me, uh uh…I drive myself ” Williams added relieving Ininobong of her disappointment assumptions “Oh that?” she smiled “of cause, you…you can drive” Williams opened the car to turn over to the driver’s side with just his boxers on as he opened the car door, the inner lights lit up the car interior illuminating Onyinye moving over to the passenger’s side with just her shirt on, she quickly turned off the inner lights, as William drove off. The whole road was lit up with street lights as Williams drove slowly conversing romantically with Iniobong it was like Williams had his dreams delivered to his door step by Santa clause. With one of his hands on the stirring wheel, and the other on IniObong’s thighs, he stared into her eyes carnally more than he a watched the empty Broadway. This wasn’t just a fling anymore, chemistry was building up – it was making Iniobong nervous – it was making Williams happy. As she directed, Williams drove into her street “Here! My street, Lucas Avenue, I haven’t been here for days now been staying at a friend’s so I don’t know if there will be food” Iniobong explained “oh I can cook” Williams replied smiling. Looking straight, Iniobong noticed someone was at her gate “turn off the car” she ordered. “But it’s dark in this street” Williams sounded worried. “That’s the point, there’s someone at my gate, my husband is out of …” “Your husband??” William asked shocked to the narrow. “You are married??” “Boy you ask a lot of questions” she broke in still observing her gate. A man came out of the car parking in front of her gate kissing a girl as he want to open the door. Williams observing the sight “I believe that in not your gateman”. No that is my husband” Iniobong was shocked and dazzled “oh” William uttered” I see”. Patiently waiting, Iniobong watched her husband take the strange woman into the compound, in anger she alighted from her car and walked furiously towards her compound. “All hell was going to break loose this night” she grumbled walking barefooted wearing only her panties and a shirt.
